description:
|
Combining my interest in abstraction, improvisation and form, along with a commitment to drawing and to the study of the human figure, my intent in this group of paintings and drawings is to explore robust forms through a physical and tactile use of aggressively applied paint and charcoal. Both mediums inform and feed off of each other and confront vigorous processes of editing and re-editing. The untitled forms in my paintings renounce identification and remain free and open to interpretation. However, the subject originates from my interest in drawing from direct-observation. Through each medium, I seek to capture and emphasize the gesture and rhythms of organic forms.
