"Brightman's Stationery is now an empty storefront that sits ont he corner of Spring and Pleasant Street in downtown New Bedford. Weathered plywood conceals each window of what used to be a speciality stationary shop. This was something beautiful about the velvet texture of plywood as I would pass by. Its surface texture informed me of a history that seemed to be boarded up inside I was curious and wanted to offer relief to a breath that I imagined was being stifled. I began to carve passageways in the boards that were concealing the interior." - Maura Cronin "Maura placed photographs of objects that you could once have found at this specialty shop, as the doors swing open, you have a glimpse back into time and as they close, a memory brought back to the present" - Cronin
