". . .Defense is constructed of wire, fabric, thread, and glue into a structure that is 3' by 3' and 10" in depth away from the wall. There is an illusion of force here, as if something is pushing the skin-like surface from behind causing it to protrude and form into a pregnant shape. A woven wire grid reinforces the structure and supports a network of textile fragments, loose stitches, and tangled and woven threads suspended in a glassy surface. Tea-stained glue solidifies all the materials into a delicate but hard shell, immovable in structure, but alive in the suggestion of growth and potential movement that occurs visually with threads piercing through from the outside skin to the inside space. . . "
