". . . This gauze-like garment form is life-size, from the shoulders to below the hips, and a pregnant belly emerges from the abdomen constructed similarly to Defense. The result is a textural opposition with the illusion of the belly's weight, its contents and hard surface, bearing down from the garment's shoulders.The garment itself reflects pregnancy as a temporal occurrence, one that may be put on and taken off again, emphasizing the difference between this conditional phase and the infinite commitment of raising a child. The piece was created at a time when I was considering circumstances under which I might choose to have or not have more children, implying a greater feminist question regarding a woman's choice whether or not to become a mother."
