Three buoys, in an unfamiliar setting become the placeholders for a large weathered chunk of wood. On the wood, fired clay rods form lines and angles to shape an unintentional cluster of intimate dwellings. This dynamic formation of broken house structures has claimed the recycled objects beneath them as home. The buoys are cushions between the floor and the weight of the structure. The act of building on top of each other as time passes speaks to settlement and faith that these communities will stand. As the structures gain mass through specific materials and debri, the sculpture at hand is taking a risk every time pieces are added. I play with precariousness and take risks to the ends that the sculpture is pushed to the capacity of that risk. I build to the point that it might fall but then succeeds. Every time I put too much weight on one side I�m playing a balancing act of how to get the structure to stay standing. This particular one by default has these ornamental ceramic weights on the back and that�s a moment in time that you get to see a part of the process within the aesthetic. This is similar to the ingenuity of building anything from scratch yourself with little knowledge and this interests me in employing and making my work. This dynamic formation of broken homes has claimed the recycled objects beneath them as home. Rest is about the vulnerability of infrastructure but also the adaptability of the people that may settle regardless.
