Drescher's illustrations, mainly editorial work, have appeared regularly in 'The New York Times&, 'The Washington Post', 'Time Magazine', 'Newsweek', 'Esquire' and 'Rolling Stone', as well as in countless other newspapers and magazines. He began to write and illustrate children's books in 1981, and has published dozens since then, among them 'The Fool and the Flying Ship' and 'Gruesome Guide to World Monsters'. Henrik Drescher has an equally extensive career in creating unique artwork, especially painted, large-scale collages, and will create a new series of work specifically for the University Art Gallery. Henrik Drescher is also a prolific creator of one-of-a-kind and limited edition books—works that tie in with his pursuit of large-scale painting and collage work. A selection of these books will be on view, some of them for sale.

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1955, Henrik Drescher and his family emigrated to the United States in 1962. After only a semester of study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Drescher—strongly encouraged by his teachers—left to pursue a career as a freelance illustrator, while traveling extensively through the Unites States, Central America and Europe. He eventually settled in New York in 1982.
