A group of female and male students sketching and painting outside the Currier Building. Allen Dale Currier Building 31 Hawthorn Street, 1885/1900 Currier buildingA shingle and clapboard structure built originally as Miss Lucy Leonard's School. It subsequently served as a private residence, and in the 1930s as the home of Allen Dale Currier, director of the Swain School from 1930-1943, and Director Emeritus until 1946. Currier's family later gave it to the school, which used it as classroom space, Painting majors' studios, faculty residence, and in 1986, as a second dormitory for 11 students.
