244 small works created in secrecy by individual artists in 1984 as an act of freedom in the face of communist cultural repression. This exhibition is a symbol of the strength of the dissident voice, the collection has now been declared a Czech National Treasure. This exhibit is sponsored by Becker and Poliakoff, PA, a Florida based law firm with offices in Prague, with additional supports from Staropramen, the premiere brewery of the Czech Republic. The US tour has been organized by Marcia Kreitman, Arts Consultant/Management, Miami, Florida.

Joska Cotoneaster, Cotoneaster own name Josef (* March 23 1948 in Prague ) is a Czech artist and graphic designer. [1] He graduated from the Prague Central School of Arts and joined the National Theatre Studio, where in 1977 he moved to the Drama Club , which organized and exhibition of paintings and photographs of artists who did not have access to the then official gallery. In 1970 he co-founded the Jazz section and also worked in samizdat periodicals (such as Revolver Revue and the People's newspaper ). The Jazz section also made his project Mini Salon. At the end of 1989, he participated in the founding meeting of the Civic Forum , of which he had, according to later accusations, inform the State Security . Cotoneaster rejects this accusation. After the Velvet Revolution became an adviser to President Vaclav Havel , and before the election in 1990, it was asked to create a new national emblem . Its effect on the Castle at the turn of 1990 and 1991 ended and has since dedicated painting and graphics. Since the mid-nineties of the 20th century run regularly draw inspiration and regenerate the island of Bali , where he was due to its exhibitions in Japan and Southeast Asia . The collection of multimedia works that comprise the Minisalon exhibit were the brainchild of dissident artist, Joska Skolnik. In 1984, Skolnik secretly commissioned 244 art works by prominent, underground Czech artists. Using 662 foot wooden boxes to convey their emotions, the artists created a startling and moving multidimensional exhibition of life under a Communist regime. In order to avoid confiscation, the works were then concealed until the fall of the regime in 1989. The 1948 seizure of Czechoslovakia by Communists resulted in severe curbs on freedom of expression. In order to exert its control over artistic thought, the regime denied nonconforming artists access to state-sponsored galleries. As a result, only those artists willing to promote the Socialist realism were permitted to display their works. Private exhibits and sales were criminalized. Ultimately, the realm of art was divided into the legal proregime works and their underground unofficial counterparts. In 1971, this repressive environment gave birth to the Jazz Section, a group of artists who fought for the freedom of artistic expression even in the face of the Government's repression. Free of Government control, the Jazz Section quickly became Czechoslovakia's leading culture force. Its popularity and irreverence angered the regime, and it immediately ordered the organization to disband. Instead the members of Jazz Section ignored the demand and continued their activities. The Government responded by arresting and imprisoning the Jazz Section leaders, among them Joska Skolnik.
